This build to the best of our knowledge has not passed English building control and we presume it requires input from an architect before it would be approved.

Why a Strawbale House Plan at Garden Match Cards

Garden Match Cards were inspired by the concept of Permaculture, which is about designing human systems (like gardens, farms, communities) that work with nature rather than against it.

Natural building methods like strawbale, are often included in Permaculture literature because they align closely with Permaculture ethics and principles. Natural building uses renewable, local, and minimally processed materials (straw, clay, sand, timber). It reduces energy consumption and pollution compared to conventional construction. Often incorporates recycling and upcycling, e.g., straw from local farms, reclaimed wood.

More information about strawbale building is available at Strawbale UK SBUK association of practitioners, designers, academics and trainers.
